Nutritional visit to Leprosy village

These are the photos from the latest distribution of nutritional items to residents at the Leprosy village at Purulia, sponsored by FORVM.

Mondarmoni cycle distribution

After successfully sponsoring distribution of 20 new bicycles to poor and bright students last year Friends of R V Mission has once again sponsored 20 new bicycles for poor students with good results,  to enable them to travel the long distance between home and school.  These images are of the distribution of 10 bicycles at Mondarmoni branch and the rest are going  to be distributed in Purulia, Joyrambati and Dweepa branches.  

Picture Quiz

Once again our sincere thanks to all of you who have again supported the Picture Quiz and made some very kind donations. The quiz has so far raised £700, which is up on last year and close to our record of £712. The amount raised will enable us to provide regular nutritional visits and occasional healthcare visits to the Leprosy Colony in Purulia, West Bengal, for a further twelve months. The money is remitted directly through the Friends of RV Mission, and no deductions are made so all of the funds go direct to those in need. You can see pictures of some of the visits by following the links at the side of the page and register to receive regular updates if you so desire. 

The adjudicator has been through all the entries received, many of which were of a very high standard!!  We are pleased to announce that this year’s winning entry was submitted by Paul Kidd and Daphne Greaves, from Worsley, who are pictured  receiving their prize from David Haywood..

Sewing machine distribution

As we announced late last year, the Friends of RV Mission have sponsored the purchase of a number of sewing machines for use by the women at the school. These have now been distributed and some pictures appear below.

These machines will make a huge difference and we should be proud of the help that we have provided here.

We are delighted to announce that FORVM have ordered ten new Singer pedal sewing machines for the Mission. Delivery will be made before Christmas and will include an inscription plate showing FORVM as the source of the donation.

Picture quiz 2017

Every year we create a Picture Quiz to raise money to support the Leprosy Community near Purulia, West Bengal. The money raised goes directly to provide monthly nutritional  visits for the villagers – who all suffer from severe leprosy issues - which they would not otherwise receive. Over the last ten years the quiz has raised more than £5,000.

You might be interested in either purchasing a copy of the quiz for entertainment for you and your family over the coming weeks, or selling them to your friends.

Details of how to submit your entry are on the sheet, but only a few of our supporters actually send in entries – the majority like to receive this quiz for entertainment purposes!
