Leprosy Village

A further update from the last few nutritional visits

Leprosy Village

It is some time since we reported on the Nutrition and Health Care provision for the people with Leprosy at the Leprosy Village, Purulia .

Access  to the Leprosy Village in monsoon time is very difficult but only possible for some local people who are used to great hardship, summertime is just as bad as the temperature can go up to 50 degrees centigrade.  So we are very grateful for those people who make the effort to enable our sponsorship to provide care for the stoic people who live in the village.

Samir normally gets in touch with Purulia RV Mission and Believers’ Church at least once a month and sometime more, as much as is possible during the monsoon,  contact has not been cut off mainly due to the duty of care of local people and Monks at the R V Mission with help from Believers’ Church staff members.

Tilak Maharaj, Head of the RV Mission in Purulia says that  the Nutritional and Health Care Programme have been ongoing and in 2015 they are adding fresh fruits and vegetables as those sufferers never normally get these essential items of food.

We are trying to find out if the solar powered street light, which was repaired 2 years ago, is in need of routine maintenance as this is one of the ways the villagers can have improved dignity as well as mobility and safety.
