Picture Quiz

Many thanks once again for your generosity in supporting our Picture Quiz. This year it has raised £616 towards the Friends of RV Mission which will help with the ongoing medical and nutritional costs at the leprosy village in Purulia, West Bengal, which houses around 40 long term leprosy sufferers.

There were a small number of entries submitted with all answers correct, and the first one of these drawn out of the hat, and winning a selection of wines, was Mr Alan Rea, of Diggle, near Oldham.

Update

·         Helen Cruickshank from Scotland has donated £100 towards purchasing and distributing Christmas cakes to the children at the Mission in India.

·         Dr S Panna has donated £20 for the same purpose and we are expecting further donation from the members and Trustees.

·         Mrs Johanna Wild will be visiting R V Mission second time,  for two weeks in January 2011, she will meet all sponsored and other children and also view all projects.  She will also visit leprosy village in Purulia with Samir Ghosh.

·         Samir will be working at the R V Mission, which he does every year, for one month ( January to February 2012 ).  He will meet all children, view different projects,  discuss with most officials and other relevant individuals.

Classical Concert at Elgin

Helen Cruickshank and her family at Elgin, Scotland will be hosting a fund raising event  for the Friends of R V Mission on  Sunday 23 October 2011 between  3pm and 5pm.  They have been  dedicated supporters of our objectives for many years and raised funds several times before.  The venue is the Town Hall, Elgin and this classical concert will be performed by the ‘Bel Canto’ group of singers including a solo by Helen’s mother Maisie Oates and Helen’s husband Ian playing accordion, their daughters Alice and Georgia will also be singing.  A full report  and photographs will be made available after the event.

‘Mission Possible’ fund raising event on Saturday 24 September 2011 of the Friends of R V Mission to help suffering children in India

This evening entertainment event was organized by our dedicated Trustee  Magda, planned and managed skilfully by her helpful friend Helen.  It was a very enjoyable and electric jam packed event raising £400 after all expenses collected  at the entrance by our Trustees and supporters.  The opening singer Naomi sang two beautiful introductory songs with her golden voice and band played several numbers throughout the evening, people danced and sang along.  ‘Opanka’ East European dancing group including our Trustee Magda performed number of colourful and lively dances.  Then ‘Open Voice’ who are a large choir of all ages thoroughly entertained us with their lively songs and had most of us singing along.  There was a raffle when two beautiful girls drew tickets with many prizes for happy winners.  Our entertainment continued with Chloe performing energetic Irish dance with everyone either dancing or tapping along.  A brief talk on our objective was also given between packed programmes. Finally the talented African drummers had everybody joining them with dancing to their drumming.  A wonderful event of an evening entertainment planned and kept on tract by ever patient and caring Helen until close to midnight.
