Bel Canto and Guest artists sing for the RKV Mission

On the afternoon of Sunday 23rd October, a group of classical young solo singers taught by Mrs Ann Munro from Lossiemouth put on a concert at Elgin Town Hall to raise funds for the Mission.

The performers were mostly young people from the Moray area, sharing their talent and their love of music with a small but appreciative audience. The Cruickshank family, who have been privileged to support the Mission for over a decade, had three generations of performers on stage - Georgia and Alice Cruickshank performed a selection of solo songs with Alice accompanying herself on guitar, dad Ian played accordion and accompanied local fiddle players and grandmother Maisie Oates, who celebrated her 75th birthday that day, finishing off with another solo performance.

Special thanks for their time and talents go to Ann Munro, Musical director, Rod Munro, sound engineer and his wife Rose, chief organiser and compere for the show.

The sum of £200 was raised for the Mission which will be used towards purchasing books and other educational materials for the poor children at the Primary School, Purulia,  Helen and her family also funded several times for building the primary school.

Alice is playing guitar, Georgia is singing solo and Ian is playing the accordion with a group called "Fiddlers Galore", who consist of Raymond Wood, Georgie Duthie and George West, all from Moray.

Mission Possible’ fund raising event on Saturday 24 September 2011 of the Friends of R V Mission to help suffering children in India
This evening entertainment event was organized by our dedicated Trustee  Magda, planned and managed skilfully by her helpful friend Helen.  It was a very enjoyable and electric jam packed event raising £400 after all expenses collected  at the entrance by our Trustees and supporters.  The opening singer Naomi sang two beautiful introductory songs with her golden voice and band played several numbers throughout the evening, people danced and sang along.  ‘Opanka’ East European dancing group including our Trustee Magda performed number of colourful and lively dances.  Then ‘Open Voice’ who are a large choir of all ages thoroughly entertained us with their lively songs and had most of us singing along.  There was a raffle when two beautiful girls drew tickets with many prizes for happy winners.  Our entertainment continued with Chloe performing energetic Irish dance with everyone either dancing or tapping along.  A brief talk on our objective was also given between packed programmes. Finally the talented African drummers had everybody joining them with dancing to their drumming.  A wonderful event of an evening entertainment planned and kept on tract by ever patient and caring Helen until close to midnight.

MESSAGE FOR THE GET-TOGETHER 25 JUNE 2011

Each soul is potentially divine – so said Swami Vivekananda – a well-known patriot saint of India. Each soul is potentially divine but this divinity is not manifested unless and until is interconnected between different souls. The totality of different souls is the right place where the divinity manifest itself in various lives of the members.

Renunciation and Service are the twin ideals which entrust every people always and everywhere and those people will become great and happy who acquire these two ideals.

I am very happy that the members connected with Ramakrishna Vivekananda Mission, Barrackpore, West Bengal try to preach and practice these two ideals in their lives and that is why they are in the process of manifesting the divinity in their minds to become one with all humanity irrespective of Caste, Creed, Religion and region.

Wishing you all success,
With best wishes,
From
Swami Nityananda
General Secretary
Ramakrishna Vivekananda Mission
